Chocolate Crackle-Tops

Thanks to my wonderful sister, Mandy (who can be found here), this magazine called "holiday" and all of its delicious recipes were brought to my attention, here's one that I tried out and found to be simply amazing!

Chocolate Crackle-Top Cookies

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
   1/4 teaspoon salt
      1 cup granulated sugar
      6 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
      2 large eggs
      1 cup powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350

1) Microwave 1 cup of chocolate chips for 1 minute on medium power. Stir. Microwave at 10-seconds intervals until completely melted.
2) In a small bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3) In a large mixing bowl, beat sugar, butter, and vanilla using an electric mixer on high speed. Add melted chocolate until well blended. Incorporated eggs, one at a time. Gradually incorporate flour mixture in the chocolate mixture. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Chill until firm, about 30 minutes.

4) Shape cooled dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Place powdered sugar in a shallow dish and roll dough balls into it to cover completely. Place balls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

5) Bake for 13 to 15 minutes; the center of the cookies will not be firm but the edges will crack. Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheets, then transfer to a rack to completely cool. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

  1. My college roommates and I always called these crack cookies! I think your name for them is much better :-) They look delicious! Also, Alex is very intrigued by the bacon pancakes. I will have to try and make them! I recently started a recipe type blog of sorts too. Check it out if you get a chance...neighborjulia.com Talk to you soon and keep baking up a storm!
